HOME OFFICES FOR SMALL SPACES

Lately, my home office has been the couch or an uncomfy lawn chair, and I'm so over it. I'm not looking for anything extravagant, I just need a chair and a table where I can work and be inspired. Since most apartments don't have additional rooms or space to spare, I found some really great alternatives to home offices for small spaces. The key is to find an open nook or closet that can be used to mount an extra long shelf . If your lucky enough to have a large nook or closet, you can slide in a desk or leaning shelf. My desk is mostly paperless, but decorative storage boxes and bins are the key to keeping odds and ends organized. xoxo

With the clean lines and architecture, this desk can become a focal point and def add
 personality to a room .

This is genius-I luv the extra deep window sill as additional storage space.

This closet is large enough to double as a home office.

If you create an office from a closet, generally electrical is installed. Hanging the pendant light from the ceiling saves desk space and makes this space feel complete.

The leaning shelving are great for small space-I like the magnetic board customized to fill the space and use for additional storage.

I'M LOVIN' LUCITE

Lucite or acrylic furniture has always been a staple in my housing wardrobe. This by far is the most versatile piece of furniture or accessory you can purchase for your home.  It compliments any style you choose...traditional, modern, bohemian. I have been noticing alot more colored lucite furniture these days, but i am obsessed with using classic clear lucite and adding a pop of color with a  charcoal seat cushion or even a metallic embellishment. If you are unsure lucite is for you, you can always start off with a lucite tray or magazine rack from cb2 online. They have fabulous and affordable options....which is why yours truly owns one of each. xoxo!

amazing antique lucite magazine rack.

love the smokey color! these can serve multiple purposes....side table, stool, foot rest.

ANOTHER INTERVENTION!

There is not much I can say about this space...it's simply disasterous. I mean, you cannot even see the floor. I wonder what the point of a closet and dressers are when they are clearly not even being used. Where does one even sleep when the mess gets to this point?!I would hope a friends house with a spare bedroom, unless they have a money tree and can stay at the Holiday Inn. This is a great example of how a bedroom can turn into  a landfill when they go ignored for a lenghtly periods of time. I generally would not dedicate an entire post to before and after pics, but this space clearly needed an intervention. I will say, this space took longer than I thought to organize, but when I was done, the outcome was amazingness!  It just took some good organization skills, creativity, patience and hard work. xoxo. Thanks for the awesome pics Lisa Delgadillo!!

FIREPLACE OPTIONS FOR APARTMENT LIVING

I love to cozy up by a fireplace and relax.  Unfortunately, apartments are not that fireplace friendly. Here are some great alternatives to achieving the same look and feel as a woodburning fireplace, without needing a fire extinguisher nearby. If you're still hesitant to even light candles, there are also some flame free fireplaces that will make you warm and cozy.

Shabby Chic Modern Style

I used to think Shabby Chic was just shabby.  Recently, I've started to appreciate the style and actually think it is lovely, sophisticated and girly. I wouldn't go as far as decorating my entire apartment in shabby chic (a tad overkill for a small space) but, I would definitely incorporate a few pieces mixed with modern elements. Here are some greats pic of combining shabby chic w/ other styles to create an amazing space.
